Editorial Policy

This policy explains how Explorney prepares, reviews, updates and corrects travel content.

Editorial purpose

Content should help readers understand a destination, assess whether it suits their interests and identify details that require official confirmation. Pages are written for usefulness, clarity and responsible travel planning.

Source standards

Preference is given to official government, tourism, transport, heritage, park, museum and destination sources; primary records; recognised mapping sources; and other authoritative references. Secondary sources may provide context but should not replace a more suitable primary source for important or changeable claims.

Accuracy and verification

Names, locations, relationships and stable factual details should be checked before publication. Opening hours, fees, permits, routes, weather, access conditions, contact details and local rules can change and must be treated as time-sensitive.

Facts, judgement and rankings

Factual statements should be distinguishable from editorial judgement. Descriptions such as popular, suitable, notable or best reflect an editorial assessment unless a stated data source or method is provided. Rankings should not be presented as objective fact without a disclosed basis.

Explorney Rating

The Explorney Rating is a site-specific editorial assessment from 0 to 5 for an individual destination. It is not a visitor-review average and is not copied from Google, TripAdvisor or another platform. Editors should consider practical visitor value, distinctiveness, access, experience quality and confidence in the available information, and revise the score when material facts change.

Travel safety and responsibility

Content should not encourage unlawful entry, unsafe conduct, environmental damage, wildlife disturbance or disregard of local customs. Readers remain responsible for current permissions, local instructions, weather assessment and personal safety decisions.

Advertising and affiliate independence

Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate arrangements must not alter factual findings. Commercial relationships should be disclosed clearly, and paid placement should not be presented as an independent editorial recommendation.

Images and intellectual property

Images and other materials should be original, properly licensed, used with permission or otherwise used lawfully. Credits and licence conditions should be retained where required. A credit does not by itself establish permission.

Updates

Pages may be reviewed when reliable new information becomes available, when a material fact changes or when an error is reported. An update date does not mean that every external fact was reconfirmed on that date.

Corrections Policy

Readers may report a suspected factual error through the Contact page when a contact channel is available. A useful report identifies the page, disputed statement, suggested correction and supporting authoritative source. Explorney will assess the evidence and may correct, clarify, update or decline the request. Differences of opinion do not necessarily require a correction. Material corrections may be noted where context requires it.
